Pedestrian & Bike Safety Task Force
The primary goal of the Pedestrian & Bike Safety Task Force is to create a safer, more pedestrian/bike friendly community for all children and their families living in Lincoln and Lancaster County.
Activities
- International Walk to School Day. Task Force members provide an educational day at participating schools each year. Throughout the year though, here are simple tips to help your child walk to school, the park, or a friends house safely, Pedestrian Safety Tips
- Bike helmets available at health fairs, bike rodeos, and other community safety events for a discounted price, and children are taught how to wear them correctly. These tips on helmet and bike riding safety will help your family stay safe, Bike Safety Tips
- Public and parochial elementary schools are provided bike/pedestrian safety resources (e.g., activity sheets, helmets, websites, and classroom/assembly presentations). If your school is interested in hosting a bike rodeo, contact lisom@unlnotes.unl.edu from the Lincoln Northeast Kiwanis.
- Halloween safety awareness every fall.
